A few words about ATVs and Quads

Yes here I am. You found me and I found you. I love the world of Quads and ATVs and I am here to share my experiences and knowledge with other people and also welcome others to do so from their side.

I would like to say a few words about these two categories, Quads and ATVs.

An ATV that respects itself has around 500cc engine or greater, the ability to engage all four wheels manually automatically or all the time, a low gear ratio for the really really tuff situations, good protection from the waters the mud or whatever the wheels will throw at you, big racks that can take a lot of load in both the front and the back and also a towing hitch or towing hitch ready place in the back. Also the CVT transmission is placed most commonly to these vehicles but it is not the rule and the final transmission is driven by a shaft. There are ATVs missing the 4wheel drive or the low gear ratio but these are the entry levels and for lighter use. Most ATVs have also enough room inside the front bumper for a winch. With all these by your side you could say that there is nothing that could stop your way through except if you bump into a TRex dyno, in which case it would be wiser to turn around and run.

Quads now are a different thing. They turn, they jump and they go like hell. They are made to run and win races. They have a more aggressive look and behavior and they are more beautiful in my personal opinion. Their distinctive characteristics are the high and rather small fenders with no care of protection from the elements of nature, smaller wheels in diameter, manual gearbox, final transmission driven by chain and that means only back wheel drive, small weight and explosive performance. They also have the ability to go on very difficult terrains but the 2x4 drive is mostly what determines how far they’ll go. On the other hand if it happens to bump into the same TRex as the ATVs, TRex has no chance to catch you he he.

Quads or ATVs one thing is for sure. You will have the time of your life. The only thing you have to do is to choose where you want to go and they will take you there and put you a smile on your face.
